In case you didn't know
Jilly from Philly is back!
I found Jill Scott's new album online. "Golden" is her latest single. I've been listening to it along with "Bedda at Home"(a song I've known about for a month or two). I've also already heard "Family Reunion". I can't decide if I want to hear more. I started to play a few other tracks, but stopped. When it comes to a great CD, I think the element of surprise is important.
While I have never heard a Jill Scott song that I didn't like...I don't want to wear her out before I bring her home. ;)

Today's blasphemy is brought to you by
the folks at The Beast.
When I first saw the trailer it stirred something in me. Although I know there are those who thought I was being melodramatic, I really was sick to my stomach.
Although I don't think that I am obnoxious about my spiritual beliefs, my Christian faith is very dear to me. To see such a blatant display of disrespect...I honestly found it heartbreaking.
If you're not a Christian and you're reading this, put yourself in my place:
How would you feel if someone ridiculed the foundation of everything that is sacred to you?

The Rolling Memorial
Recently a friend sent me some information about The Rolling Memorial via email. You can see it for yourself here. I think it's a wonderful idea. So many people's lives were changed forever on 9/11. A tribute to those who were lost that day deserves to be shared.

Anyone else remember the song...
that goes "This land is your land/ This land is my land..."?
Well there's a new version.
Hate Bush? Think Kerry is scary?
Enjoy yourself. (FYI, there's some "language".)
Nevertheless. It's hilarious.

Because he's innocent....?
So the latest news in the Cecilia Zhang case is in.
In July the authorities finally arrested her killer. Now it seems that after contacting his Mom to let her know what a good boy he's been, Min Chen has decided to put his legal team together.
Who's he got in his corner?
None other than John Rosen, defender of Paul Bernardo.
Let's review...
(For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Bernardo case, I just found this summary.) In 1995, Paul Bernardo and his wife, Karla Homolka, were indicted. They killed Kristen French and Leslie Mahaffy, two teenage girls. (I thought they were also found guilty of murdering a third victim, Tammy Homolka. However I was mistaken.)
Anyways.
Min Chen has hired the lawyer of a notorious child murderer. Furthermore, the murderer is more than notorious. He is notoriously guilty.
And Chen still claims he didn't do anything?
*raising eyebrows*

Jesus *Laughs*
So. I'm one of those folks who still hasn't seen The Passion of The Christ. I've wondered a bit about the mood on-set. Considering the subject matter, I thought things would have been All Grim, All The Time.
Not so, according to The New Pantagruel. Check out their transcripts, straight from the Passion blooper reel.

Sticky, sticky, licky, licky
There are many gestures that our culture considers rude. Giving someone the "finger".... "Mooning".
But the disgust some folks feel over sticking out one's tongue has always eluded me. I've always taken it as a non-verbal "Nyah-nah-nah-nah-nah-nah". Nothing more.
However Laura Bush finds it extremely inappropriate. The pic I posted is of her daughter, Jenna. Here's the story, in which Mrs. B. airs her disgust.
Maybe it's just me, but I don't consider the girl's actions that offensive. Silly? Yes. But nothing worth CNN's time.
Then again, this is an election year. Every stray thread must be held accountable.

Why can't this month be next month?
Really. I wanna know.
'Cause by this time next month I will have little over a week to go before I'm back in school. Anticipation can be pretty annoying. I have the urge to fast-forward my life. The only thing keeping me from doing so right now is the fact that I have to pack.
And believe me, I've started.

I found this image
Lest anyone forget about America's current state of emergency:
And even though it's a cute pic--what with the Sesame Street muppet, etc.--I'm scared. More for my American relatives than myself. Even though I watched everything from a safe distance on TV, I don't need to have that 9/11 feeling again:
Once in my life was once too many.

Wondering if my relatives are ok--they live in NYC and DC
Wondering why anyone would do this
Wondering when, where, and how the terrorists will strike next
Once in my life was once too many.
