neofundamental: my own faq

It's "my own" because no one's asked me outright. I just feel like sharing. ;)

What's in a name?

For those of you who didn't visit my space way-back-when, my blog used to be named, simply, after my first and middle name.

But somehow I've always been uncomfortable about naming my blog after myself. Yes, this is me, but...All along I've wanted to name it something different. Something that reflected my personality as well as the spirit of my posts.

Plus, a little anonymity can come in handy every now and then.

And just what do you mean by neofundamental? Is that even a word?

It is now.

The prefix "neo" refers to things that are new. "Fundamental", of course, means important. And I try to post about things that are current or "new". Plus, whether serious or silly, I wouldn't mention something if I didn't think it was worth sharing.

I also believe the word "fundamental" fits for spiritual reasons. (It's minus the "ist".) Faith is important to me. As I mentioned in the post announcing the big switcheroo...I believe I ought to be able to discuss my spirituality openly and honestly.

Here's a brief anecdotal flashback: A few years ago I had a consultation regarding my resume. I presented a draft which included some religious experience. (In university, I used to present selected Bible verses during my residence's chapel services.) The gentleman I met with read this item on my resume, nodded, and said, "[Ms. N], don't hide who you are".
It's true that we try to present our best selves to the world every day. But how much fun can you really have when you reveal only a part of your best?

When it comes to Christianity, I used to consider myself a liberal. By "liberal" I mean that I don't think I'm a religious elitist. I don't believe my faith somehow makes me superior to other human beings.

But at the heart of me, I know that I am an Evangelical Christian, or, dare I say, a Fundamentalist. I believe in God, I trust in Him and strive to give my life to Him every day. I believe in the wisdom of a young man named Jesus who once walked the earth. I believe that the Bible consists of more than a bunch of fairy tales. I've always taken it seriously and appreciated its wisdom.

So what about the original neofundamental? It had some good posts and questions and there were a few interesting scripture references...

Yes, but I got sick of switching between two blogs. However, since I love the name, I decided to keep it. ;) At the same time, my original blog was the older blog. Hence, its length and content won my Celebrity Blog Deathmatch.

Please enjoy your stay...
