Welcome to my first blog review. It's of my current non fiction fave, quirkyalone. I submitted it to be published in marlo. When it's up, I'll let you know. For now...Enjoy:
In our society, adults who are content without a relationship are usually considered strange. They’re often the victims of friends who try to get them “fixed up” with someone—as though they are somehow broken. But what about the satisfied solo individual? Does such a thing exist? Surely every single man or woman is in need of the satisfaction that only a partner can bring. Or are they? Enter quirkyalone (or QA, as believers like to cal it). More than a noun or adjective, quirkyalone is a movement. In this couples-driven culture, Sasha Cagen gets it. Her first book articulates what thousands have known for years. There can be sense and solace in being solitary.
Not that intimacy with others is ignored. Quirkyalone features chapters such as “quirkytogether”, which explores what it’s like to be QA in a romantic relationship. “Best friends 4-eva” talks about the intimate nuances of a platonic relationship.
On every page, quirkyalone inspires readers to view everything they’ve ever believed about relationships in new, often intriguing ways. Like most people, I’d like to get married. But I’ve never thought about a Boston Marriage until QA. And no, I’m not talking about nuptials in Massachusetts. Go read the book.
