Speaking of American Apparel

As NOW pointed out, their ads are little pornoriffic [sic].

But their clothes...

*sigh*

What?

They fit. Dammit.

Talib Kweli, I think I love you.

Well, not really.

Yet there's something about a man with an active mind.

Mmmmmm....

*sigh*

And just think--I hadn't even heard of him until a few seconds ago.

To make a long story short, I was surfing iTunes...Last week when I went to American Apparel, they were playing "I Try" in the background. Mary J. Blige sings the hook, and it stuck in my head. But more recently, THIS caught my attention:

*profanity ahead*

Do you support war in general?

I think its man's nature to go to war and fight. But I also think it's man's nature to fuck around and not settle down with one woman. But the problem is when you fall in love you can't really fuck around because you involve people's emotions. So you evolve. You compromise in order to show your love and that's what being a civilized person is. War is not civilized. At a certain point we've evolved to the point that we can fall in love. You have a lot of guys who fuck around because they haven't evolved and you have guys who can stay with one partner. War is the same thing. We have to evolve out of that. It's 2003 and even if we haven't evolved out of fighting, we should be able to have evolved to see what's going on around us. The reason that there's more antiwar protest for this war than there has been for any war in modern history is because the facts of the matter are clear. The reason why they want to take this fight to Saddam Hussein is clear. The reason why its George Bush Jr. in office while its happening is clear. It's so obvious and blatant. You can watch the Discovery channel and the Discovery channel would tell us that. But people are living in these illusions and people don't know how to watch the media.

Bono doesn't go to church.

Big deal.

Why does that have to mean that he hasn't got a clue about who or what God is?

From the article...

...a Christian's pleading for social justice without worshiping God
regularly within the community of the church is little more than activism for its own sake.

How would the author know?

If there's one thing I cannot stand, it's this blind insistence that (some) evangelicals have...That people who do not regularly attend services regularly in a man-made building are somehow outside the scope of God's protection, love, or understanding.

It seems to me these people are forgetting a little verse in the Bible...Where Jesus speaks about the futility of judging your fellow man.

It's times like these when I wish I was an atheist.

"I am sick of love..."

Isn't that in the Bible somewhere, i.e. Song of Solomon?

I find myself constatly in love with love, and wanting friends, companionship, etc. It only leads me to nowhere, gets me embarrassed and in trouble, etc.

My girlfriends beg to differ. But every now and then I think there's something wrong with me. Something inside won't be satisfied without having someone to share myself with.

But first, what is there that can be shared...?

I'm a work in progress.

Ha! Isn't everyone...

Jill Scott's coming to town....

And naturally, I'm missing her.

She'll be in tomorrow night. Massey Hall. Toronto.

If you're going...I hear she's fantastic.
